Here in this tutorial we will be making an Internet of Things(IOT) based GPS tracker that will track the position of the device in real time.This project is my favourite as it has wide application both in security and transportation.
- Tracking Car/Bike/almost anything.
- Can be used by School, in their school buses to track it and also parents will know the where about of the bus.
- In Spying someone.
- Can be also used as a data logger for the path traversed.
Working Principle :
Here, we are using NodeMCU, which is an ESP8266 based development board that is very cheap and easy to use. It is simply a Wi-Fi module dev. Board that sends the GPS data to the online server that share the data in a elegant GUI arrangement on any smartphone.
The platform which we are using is Blynk App, which is a free(with limited access) IOT app platform that provides you with different widgets for plotting the data in you phone and the best features of it are that it is easy to use, free, great GUI integration, Secure and the project can be shared to many person, who have this app installed.
Ubon Neo 6M V2 GPS module which is very cost effective and is compatible with different dev. Boards like Arduino, Raspberry pi , ESP8266 and of course NodeMCU.
Note: A Internet enabled Wi-Fi/Hotspot network is needed to connect the NodeMCU to send the GPS’s data to Blynk app Server.
